Friday July 24th - a fitting end to an adventure day

We made it back to Minocqua just in time to grab some sandwiches and eat before the ski show. The sky looked a little iffy but no thunder/lightening yet. We had just finished our sandwiches when it started to rain. A normal rain.
It was the weekend of the Antique and wooden boat show so there was to be a boat parade before the ski show that night. They started the parade anyway as the wind picked up a bit and the rain got harder. It was a warm enough evening so we figured we'd just sit out the showers.
Every boat that went by, the rain got harder and harder. When we thought it couldn't possibly rain any harder....it rained even harder. It got to the point of the ridiculous and we could not stop laughing.
When the thunder and lightening started we decided it was best to wait it out in the car. Some of the group had bits and pieces of dry clothing from earlier in the day to put on. Alex and I were out of luck, all our clothes were in the other car that my parents had taken Maya back to the cabin in.
It did finally stop raining and we went back and took our seats and the water ski show started.
None of us had been brave enough to bring our cameras back from the car since it was still cloudy and sprinkling on and off.
Of course, since no one had a camera....we saw the most amazing bright rainbow over the Hwy 51 bridge. You could see the colors go over the front of the trees, over the front of the bridge and see the very end of the rainbow right in the water.
Then a bald eagle soared overhead right across the rainbow.
Seriously. No cameras.
About halfway thru the show as the sun started to go down it did cool off a bit and Alex (since he was still soaked) started to get cold. Thankfully my brother was just getting into town for the weekend and met us at the show - and had a warm blanket in his car to save the day!
