So yesterday they did it all!
The end of this week we had new fluffy snow then a weekend with some sun and mild but still below freezing temps. So yesterday we headed outside and in the course of the afternoon went sledding, snowshoeing and skiing. And today we went out and did it all over again! You know, because it's suppose to be 48 and raining by Tuesday...
snow, melt, snow, melt, freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw...
That's the way this "winter" has been. Not a lot of good snow to play in and many rainy, wet days. So when we have a nice one we have to bolt outside!
Christmas vacation
Winter Solstice
As the heavy snow fell and the branches began to bend we thought we might be observing the Solstice like ancient people did by very literally awaiting the return of the light (electricity!) but we never lost power.
Might be time to catch up! Back in early December...
Alex made a model of Mammoth Cave for his National Park Biomes class. There is an underground river in the back of the cave that is hard to see in the picture where he included some unique fish that are native to the cave system. He did it all himself from design to building.
We went to a new place to get our tree this year. It was great. Nice people, $20 tree. Maya was lobbying hard for a "cute tiny tree" .....we opted for a slightly larger one.
Early December did not boast a lot of great playing outside weather and very little snow so there was a lot of fort building and Lego playing going on around here.
