Mother's Day - snow and kite flying

We always tell our kids "there is no such thing as the wrong weather, just the wrong clothing choices".  Well that's true but some days the weather does make you just want to curl up with a book or movie and ignore what's going on outside.  Mother's Day was one of those days.  Snow, wind and sleet in May.....no thanks.  But my kids are hardcore.  Eventually they talked us into bundling up in a weird combo of winter gear and rain gear and going out to fly a kite.

Trying to learn new things and get more adept with the settings.

We have over 30 trilliums in our backyard this year!!

Alex brought my camera on a walk this morning

Alex, Charlie and I went for a walk in the sunshine this morning.  Alex brought my camera along and took these pictures.  He sat with me as we put them on the computer and directed me as to how he wanted them cropped.

"snow fleas" were out like crazy today.

We followed several well worn deer trails and found spots under trees where they had bedded down last night.

Here they had dug up some delicious lichen.

But this is now, the second week of April.

The snow has come in waves, mixed with just about every other form of precipitation you can imagine.  We've got layers of ice, crusty snow, more ice and now today we are getting a layer of fluffy snow.  The kids had snow days this week on Wednesday and Friday.  Yesterday we went out for an "icy hike".

From this point on, Alex took the pictures.
