Today

Today we drove down near Newaygo, MI to pick up our new puppy. We did some exploring along the Muskegon River and some lakes around the area before we got the puppy.

I'm behind.

I don't even remember when this was from, I just unloaded my camera and found all sorts of pictures.

What a day!

Yesterday Alex and I headed into town first thing in the morning to hit the farm market and get Alex his summer haircut. We stopped on the way home to get a new clothes line and some twine for the garden.
Once we got home the kids played outside, Ben put a new blade on the lawn mower and fixed the weed eater and I put up the make shift trellis for the peas and beans in the front garden. We paused briefly for a few bike accidents and skinned knees. Ben found all the pieces for an old shelf we had stored in the shed and fixed and sanded it. Maya and I pulled out all the half dead stalks from the tulips and daffodils and planted some seeds in that empty spot and planted new seeds in some of the bare spots in the gardens where our other seeds hadn't germinated and filled in some more morning glory seeds around the tee pee in back.
After lunch we got invited to a neighbor's house to go swimming in their pool. The kids had a great time and swam for a couple hours.
We headed home before supper because we had friends coming over for a little cook out. The kids all played outside running around like crazy before dinner and then ran around like crazy inside after dinner!
We had 2 extremely tired children by 8:30pm!

Maya's haircut

Maya needed a trim. Then she decided she wanted her hair "short". She was pointing up by her ears. I just couldn't bring myself to do that so this was our compromise. It was hard to watch so much of her hair falling on the floor but she really loves it.

Memorial Day - Monday

Hot, sunny, lawn chairs, sprinklers....

In the evening

On to Bldg 50 and Old Mission

Sunday we rounded out the TC area tour with a trip to Bldg 50 and the grounds at the commons for a hike and then up Old Mission. A bit nicer day than Saturday but we still got a variety of weather and a big temperature drop out at the Old Mission light house with some fog rolling in. Alex's big thrill for the day was conquering that rope swing by himself!

Memorial Day weekend

My mom and dad came to visit and brought some friends along! Saturday we did the farm market and the Leelanau area tour - Dunes, Leland, State Park light house. We had quite a variety of weather - rain, sun, gale force winds, fog, hot, calm, cold.....but a fun time was had by all.
