Thursday July 8th

It was cooler with a north wind in the morning so we decided to go feed the fish at Grandma Ruth's house. We ran town errands and visited, had lunch with Grandma and hoped for napping on the way back to the cabin. No luck there so there was a definite rough patch in the early afternoon.
All was well once we went down to the lake swimming though. Great afternoon, swam right up until supper time then got jammies on and went back down to enjoy the sunset. Maya didn't make it until sunset, she asked to go to bed around 8pm but fell asleep quickly enough that I still made it back down for the sunset.

Day 2...............Wed July 7th

Vacation day 2 dawned hot and humid. We were swimming by 9am after a short time of bubble blowing up by the house. Grandma Ruth and Aunt Lori came to visit from Rhinelander.
After lunch and naps it had started to cloud up but we went back down the hill anyway to play in the lake. Our playing was cut short by thunder, followed quickly by heavy rain. So we got wet one way or another but not the way we planned. Alex said sitting on the dock in the rain storm was like taking a shower only you had no control over where the water went!
Just before we headed back up the neighbors a few doors down arrived ~ they have two older boys Alex likes to play with ~ so everyone was excited.

Not too bad for the first afternoon!

Our trip over was fairly uneventful. Mom and Dad met us in Florence on their way down from Marquette and we had an ice cream rest stop. The rest of the trip went quickly and we arrived at the cabin with plenty of time to play on the lake. The kids were so excited to be there, they wanted to do everything at once! I had to keep reminding them that we had weeks ahead of us, we did not need to do everything today.

Coming soon!

Some vacation pictures.....coming soon! :)

4th of July weekend

We spent lots of time at the state park beach friday and saturday and then took an adventure beach trip to the Platte River outlet on sunday. (I didn't get my camera out at the Platte because it was so windy the sand was blowing pretty badly). We had perfect swimming and floating weather all weekend! Maya has mastered "swimming" in her floaty - she can turn herself whichever way she wants and kick to go forward.
Saturday night some other families came over for a campfire, smores and sparklers.

exploring the woods

Old Mission exploring

Last week Mon and Wed Alex went to a day camp for kids out on Old Mission peninsula at Bowers Harbor park. Rather than drive all the way home Maya and I had our own "day camp" and explored other areas of the park, went raspberry picking, went to the light house and went to Haserot park.
The weather was much cooler last week so it was perfect for playing, exploring and berry picking.

Notice!

As noted on the top line of the page our zip code has changed. I think our mail will still come with the old zip for up to a year but the correct new zip is 49696!

Free fishing day

Alex caught a "whopper" this year :)......he was very excited regardless!
Maya liked the idea of fishing, she liked reeling in but did not really have the patience to wait for anything to bite.

Alex's own swim "class"

Alex has decided that he wants to teach himself to swim. He does not want any help. He just wants to "figure it out, that's what I do mom is figure things out."
He did. He can successfully propel himself forward now kicking and paddling without touching the bottom. He hasn't tried it in water where he can't touch yet but is working up to that.

Summer Solstice

We put food out for the fairies and spent some time playing in the field while the sun was still high in the sky into the evening..............
Then I got to spend the rest of the evening with some wonderful friends in a cozy backyard!
