Funday Sunday (last weekend)

The children's museum finally re-opened, although their new exhibit that has kept them closed for so long still is not done. I'm sure they must be very frustrated by now. But last sunday they had a special program with a local children's dance/music/art teacher to make bird masks and paint birdhouses.

Later on at home......

"Truck Touch"?

Ok so I am not a big fan of the name of the event - "Truck Touch". But that's basically what it was I guess. A local private school had an open house event and they had all sorts of big trucks, machines, fire and police vehicles and even a helicopter that the kids could climb on and yes, touch. Some other kids in our neighborhood were walking around yesterday handing out flyers for it so we thought we'd check it out this morning. Alex's favorite parts were the construction hat he got, the helicopter and a smaller tractor size digger. He was a bit intimidated by some of the really big machines.

Maya and food

Maya is starting to get a little interested in food. She still much prefers mommy milk but at least is willing to give a few other things a try now. We totally skipped any sort of baby food or purees. Anything that thin she just throws back up. She wants things she can grab onto herself and take bites off.
In a couple of the last pictures you can see her new top teeth. The ones next to them are coming in now too.

Catching up....Memorial day weekend

My parents came to visit Memorial day weekend. Saturday we went for a good bike ride on the TART with a stop at the farm market, a ride on the train and another stop at Darrow park to play. I'm waiting for mom to email me her pictures (hint, hint!) because I know she's got a great one of both kids crashed out sleeping in the bike trailer on the way back to the car.
Saturday night Ben and I went out for dinner......with other grown ups! Maya did ok with my mom and dad until they tried to go out for pizza. She took one look around the restaurant and it was just too many strangers for her to be comfortable without her mommy or daddy there. She got so upset they ended up having to get their pizza to go and come home and have a picnic. Once they got back home she was just fine again. We were gone about 2.5 hours and that was about her limit - she was just getting fussy again when we got home. But it was enough time for us to have some great food and some grown up conversation!
Sunday the weather was a bit iffy. We tried to go for a few little hikes and ended up getting a little bit wet. We went and checked out the swan's nest you can see off Cass by the one way bridge.

Blast from the past

Can you believe that the boy who was once this chubby is now wearing size 4 slim jeans that I have adjusted to the smallest possible waist setting and they are still falling down?

Brown Bridge Quiet area

I'll spare ya all the details but let's just say that it wasn't the best hike. Mainly due to a large amount of 3 year old whining.....which led to some adult bickering....throw in some mosquitoes and you get the idea.

Sunday the weather tested our "play outside every day" resolve. It was windy and cold today. Alex, Maya and I went to buy some flowers and a few seeds and Alex and I spent our outside time planting today.
