Thursday....

Random collection of stuff:
First the "important" stuff:
Maya signed "milk" last night. I thought it was a fluke and she was just imitating me but she has done it about 8 more times today! She hasn't figured out to ask for milk by signing yet - she just rubs her face in my chest LOL - but she stops nursing for a minute and gives me a huge smile and signs milk, looks very proud of herself and then goes back to nursing again.

We are going to consider this important too:
Tonight is the series finale of Scrubs. I love that show, there are rumors it might get picked up on another network but nothing official and they are advertising tonight as the SERIES not season finale. Thank goodness for TV shows on DVD because nothing can make me laugh like Scrubs.

Now some weird observation stuff.
Today we had a babywearing group meeting in the morning, then grabbed some lunch and headed over to the grocery store. Maya was asleep so we opened the windows and ate our lunch while she slept a little before we ran inside.
It was an interesting day in the Oleson's parking lot.
A truck pulled up behind us and two women (mother/daughter maybe?) unloaded approx. 49 twelve packs of empty beer bottles PLUS 3 thirty gallon size garbage bags of cans. Lets hope they'be been saving those up for a while. That's even more than I ever saw the frat houses return at Jim's Food Mart (highest alcohol sales per capita in the US) in Houghton.
Then a woman pulled up in a car next to us and waited a few minutes until a man pulled up on her other side. She got out and got into the car with him where they proceeded to make out...I mean to the point that I was getting embarassed a few cars away. If they would have been right next to us I would have felt like I had to move so I didn't end up having to explain some things to Alex. Alex was preoccupied watching the automatic sprinklers luckily.

So that is my thursday.

Outside

We've been out in the backyard a lot lately. On this particular day Alex decided he didn't want his picture taken. Maya was a little more agreeable.

I'm boring

I know. I'm boring. I have been lazy lately about taking pictures. We've been outside a lot just doing regular playing type things, bike rides with friends....
We've been to the library a few times, sometimes with friends. Yesterday we met friends at the "big library" and then all invaded a McDonalds with a playland for lunch. (So basically it's probably a countdown now until Alex gets sick - there were loads of kids there) But they all had SO much fun, all the moms were dragging dead tired kids out of there.

New London visit

Maya is the little pink one, I am yellow, Alex drew himself purple, Grandma is blue, Papa is green (see he has a beard). I'm glad we left before it rained again because I'm sure there would have been hysterics when it got washed away.

For Whom the Bell Tolls

This is Alex's mosh pit face. He was rocking out to Metallica on the way to Appleton.

Better late than never

Due to the snow and sub-freezing temps during the actual Easter weekend we had an outdoor egg hunt last weekend instead.

Tale of the Mighty Knights

Alex, Maya and I took off a week ago thursday for Green Bay. Friday night we went to Appleton with friends to see The Backyardigans Live: The Tale of the Mighty Knights. This was my first experience with preschooler stage shows. Alex was very excited....once the show started he was a little nervous about some parts (some moving trees and a dark forest) but said he liked it. For those unfamiliar w/ the storyline there is an egg that hatches into a dragon. Right before intermission the legs hatched out of the egg and Alex decided he was too scared of the dragon (and totally overtired) so we left during the break. It was an experience that's for sure - a huge theater filled with excited and tired kids ages 5 and under!

Back from the land of the sick

Alex and I got a really awful cold and were pretty much out of commission for over a week. Considering how many days we just stayed home in the house we did pretty well staying sane. Maya and Ben escaped it for the most part, Maya just had some goopy eyes and coughs every now and then.
We are also happy that our winter like weather finally broke and the snow is almost gone! I think the fresh air helped kick that last lingering bit of our colds too, we got to play outside a bit on friday and quite a bit on saturday and sunday.
Ben built our nesting box this weekend and we hung it up. We are hoping to attract kestrels or screech owls. We also got Maya a baby swing for the swing set. Oh my goodness does she love it! She doesn't even have to be swinging, she just likes to sit in it and look around.

Thank you Target dollar bins

The Easter bunny brought Alex a bunch of eggs with quarters in them! Alex had $3.75 and yesterday we went to Target to learn how many things you can buy with that much money. We were extra lucky in that half the stuff in the dollar bins was 50% off!
I asked Alex what type of thing he wanted to buy and the first thing he said was that he wanted to buy something for Maya!
He bought her a Stegasaurus, LOL. Even funnier is that she loves it!
So thanks to the Target dollar bins and their sale Alex was able to get Maya's Stegasaurus, a set of Curious George ink stamps, a wooden tic tac toe game, and a set of 6 stretchy rubber dinosaurs. For a total of $3.71 w/ tax. You know what part he thought was the coolest? The fact that he got 4 pennies back as change!

Spring?

Oh the weather outside is frightful
but chocolate cake is so delightful
close the curtains and pretend we don't know
let it snow....let it snow ...let it snow

Happy Easter!

We got up this morning and went to 6am church. Yes, I said 6am. It was actually pretty fun, Alex thought it was a great adventure getting up and driving to church in the dark, by the light of the moon...
We went to breakfast with a group from church and then headed home to see what the bunny left!
Alex was very excited to hunt for his basket and eggs.
By 10:30am we were all ready for a nap!
