Wings of Wonder

Wings of Wonder
There was a presentation at our local library today. Alex thought it was pretty cool....so did Ben and I!

Happy Birthday Ben!

We never learn

We should know by now that any large, free children's activity in Traverse City is asking for trouble. There are just far too many preschool age kids in this town. This morning we braved the Easter egg "hunt". I have hunt in quotes because I don't personally consider eggs scattered on the floor of a gym to really qualify as a hunt....it was more like a "scramble".
When it was all said and done you could totally tell which kids actually picked up their own eggs versus which parents picked up eggs for their kids....the kids who did it themselves each had 5-8 eggs and the parents had full baskets.
Alex had fun during the actual egg part and then immediately said "let's get out of here!"

Well it's official...

My 3.5 year old is more artistic than I am.

New fun at mealtime

Now that Maya can sit she gets to sit at the table and play while we eat. She loves it!

Sitting means new fun in the tub

Now that she can sit, that means she can play and splash more in the tub. Boy can she splash more. Our kitchen will be nice and clean after bath nights now.

Comparison

Within a couple weeks of the same age.

Maya sits

Maya can sit on her own now...for the most part. As you can see by the last picture we are still a little selective about how hard of a surface we sit her on because she randomly arches her back and flies backwards.

Yes Alex has a toy pot on his head. He said his name was "Mister pan seller". I'm thinking it has something to do with the book "Caps for sale" where the cap peddler wears his merchandise on his head.

6 months

Height - 25 3/4 inches
Weight - 16 1/2 lbs.
Happy and healthy.

Flashlights and cookies

Really, what more could a boy ask for? That's what the children's activity at church last week involved. Alex was in heaven.

They took flash lights and went on a "Jesus hunt" throughout the whole church building and then decorated whole wide world cookies.

Traverse City North Stars

Friday night Ben took Alex to a hockey game with Alex's friend Lily and her dad. We have a local Jr - A team (similar to the Green Bay Gamblers) and the rink isn't far from our house.
Unfortunately Alex and Lily refused to get their picture taken together. Also unfortunately both dads ended up taking the kids home early because when the North Stars scored a goal they had an extremely loud, I mean extremely loud, whistle/siren noise that had just about every kid in the building in tears.
Alex said he loved the skating part.....but not the noise.

On a side note

Alex's blood test results all came back normal! Good news. So if he goes until the end of April without another bleeding episode we are not doing the colonoscopy. I personally have a gut feeling that whatever was causing it, wether a polyp or something else, was flushed out during the whole ordeal of the barium enima test.

Cool project

There is a program thru our school system called Way to Grow that has playgroups, open gyms and also monthly home visits for pre-school age kids. The teacher comes over and does a project with Alex, usually reads a book too. This month they decorated these paper eggs with homemade puffy paint. The "paint" is just shaving cream and glue mixed together and colored with food coloring! Pretty cool, eh? Then you can stick whatever decoration in it and let it all dry overnight and it sticks there.
The yellow one he made for me....because I love yellow. Well, according to Alex I love yellow anyway. You see he has assigned us all our favorite colors. His favorite it orange, Daddy's is blue and mine is yellow. No arguing allowed.
